Welcome to Cancer & Intimacy
Welcome in.
This space is where we begin a new kind of conversation about what it means to love, touch, to desire, to experience pleasure, to be erotically expressed, and to embrace ourselves and our bodies fully during and after cancer.
If you’re here, chances are you already know how few spaces exist to talk honestly about intimacy, relationships, body image, and identity during and after treatment. The medical world may be brilliant for keeping us alive, but rarely does it support us with how to feel alive, most specifically as it relates to intimacy, sexuality, pleasure, turn-on, body image, and more.
That’s why Cancer And Intimacy exists.
Here, we’ll be exploring:
How to reconnect with your body and your partner in ways that honor where you are now.
How to rebuild sensual confidence and self-trust after profound change.
How professionals and caregivers can approach intimacy-informed care with more empathy, nuance, and skill.
And so much more!
You’ll find a mix of personal reflections, practical guidance, research-backed insights, and stories from others walking this path. Some posts will feel like sitting together over tea, others like stepping into a workshop, and a few like strategy sessions for reshaping how our culture approaches this whole conversation.
For now, the doors are open. You’re invited to settle in, get curious, and explore as the first essays and resources begin to roll out in the weeks ahead.
Also, you can subscribe/upgrade your subscription at any time to receive even more valuable writing and resources. We’re creating loads of useful extras to share with our subscribers and founding members. Plus, your subscription helps fund the projects we do through www.cancerandintimacy.com, including scholarship funds, research, and community outreach.
If you haven’t visited our website yet, I encourage you to do that today. And please let others who might need it know about it. This conversation is most impactful when it’s shared person-to-person.
If you’ve ever wished someone would finally talk about this — not as a taboo, but as a vital part of healing and wholeness — you’re in the right place!
Thank you for being here at the beginning.
Welcome to Cancer & Intimacy.
More soon.
With warmth and purpose,
Claire
